I started moto cross racing and snow cross racing at the age of 11 and over the summer I got really bored doing it all by myself. I saw some guys on mountain bikes and I thought this is pretty much the same thing; there is just no motor. So I picked up mountain biking when I was 15.
Later that season, I entered a dirt jump contest. In motor sports I competed a lot and so it was natural to me to compete in mountain biking as well. I placed 3rd behind Trond Hansen and Niels Windfeldt, our big mountain bike stars in Norway. Nobody knew me and it was pretty sensational to place 3rd behind them. After that I got a sponsor who helped me out with bikes and things became a lot easier for me.
Then I got introduced to the SMX through Northlegion. Through them I met a lot of people and it opened many doors for me. I got introduced to adidas, for example, and to some other sponsors. In December 2006 I participated in the adidas Winter Slopestlye, the first SMX contest ever, and I came in 2nd.
After the SMX contest I started riding for Norco. They support me really well. However, 2007 was my lousiest year ever. I broke my collarbone and I had just recovered from that injury when I tore the ligaments in my ankle without knowing it. I did a photo shoot for Rockstar and couldn’t ride at my best, because it hurt so much. It was really hart for me to go crazy on my bike so at one point I decided to see a doctor and he told me that my ligaments were torn. Nevertheless, I am fully recovered now, in better shape then ever and ready to rock. Trond is my training partner and we are working hard.
Being a member of the adiridas team now, is amazing! For me it is like a dream come true. So far I haven’t had many dreams in my life, but belonging to such a great team was definitely one of them. At adiridas, everyone can ride his own style and be himself. I really like that.
My goal for 2008 is having as much fun as possible, keeping well and fit and not getting injured, staying out of trouble, riding a lot of contests and giving my best. As long as I’m having fun at a contest, I don’t have to win it, because winning is not everything.
Strengths: Big stuff, like big jumps. I'm not afraid of doing my tricks over huge gaps.
The tricks i know, I can do pretty much at every jump I try them on.
I am good at extending my tricks.
Weaknesses: Skatepark. I never ride it, so I never learn it. But who cares? Skatepark is not for mtb.
